Rob Young

Rob Young (* in Sussex , New Brunswick ) is a Canadian sound engineer .

Life

Young began his career in the mid-1970s, initially working as a sound assistant on the boom . He made his debut in 1975 with the thriller Escape into fear by Daniel Mann . From the late 1970s he worked as a sound engineer. His main focus was film, but he was also active in television productions, including 26 episodes of the television series The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn .

In 1993 he was nominated for Merciless, together with Les Fresholtz , Vern Poore and Rick Alexander for an Oscar in the Best Sound category, but this year the award went to Michael Mann's The Last of the Mohicans . For Clint Eastwood - Western he was in the same year for the BAFTA Film Award in the category Best Sound nominated. In 1998 he was nominated a second time for the BAFTA Film Award, this time for William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet . At this award ceremony, too, he went empty-handed, as he did before when he was nominated for the Genie Award in 1983.
