Robert Theodor Betz (born September 23, 1953 in Friedrich-Wilhelms-Hütte ) is a German seminar provider, coach , author of various books and active in the field of esotericism . He lives in Munich and on the Greek island of Lesbos .

Life

Betz spent three years in the monastery boarding school of the Steyler missionaries in the Dutch province of Limburg . He then completed an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk . He passed the Abitur at the evening high school in Bonn and studied psychology and social education in Hamburg from 1976 to 1982 . After working for six years in advertising agencies in Hamburg and Frankfurt , he moved to an American industrial company in 1986 as Vice President Marketing Europe .

At the age of 42 he left this professional life and moved to Munich. There he learned the reincarnation therapy according to Thorwald Dethlefsen and took up the "study of messages from the spiritual world" in order to work as a reincarnation therapist and coach on this basis.

According to his own statements, Robert Betz conducts seminars with a “Christian-spiritual” orientation and designs therapy training courses. He gives lectures in around 15 large cities in Germany as well as in Vienna and Zurich and on Lesbos (as of 2019).

He developed the "Transformation Therapy according to Robert Betz". With transformation therapy, Betz wants to enable people “to transform all kinds of states of suffering within a short period of time, and in particular to transform stuck emotional energies such as fears, anger, powerlessness and the like. a. to solve". With the term “transformation”, Betz also connects the idea that humanity is in a “time of transformation” on the way to a “new age of love”, in which “nothing will be the same as before”.

Teaching and criticism

Robert Betz believes that the present is a “high time of transformation”, with the greatest changes taking place “inside” very many people, “in their consciousness and in their subtle bodies”. The " golden age of love" is currently dawning . For example, Betz wrote in January 2012: “The age of the 'normal person' is now definitely coming to an end, the age of the loving heart person, the golden age of love is now being born. This birth does not take place outside of us, but through ourselves. All of our hearts are the 'wombs' of this new age. "

In his texts and in his therapeutic work, Betz refers to a “spiritual world”. He regularly publishes “Messages from the Spiritual World”, which are supposedly received by Andrea Schirnack as a medium and spoken by her “from the Emmanuel ray”. The monthly messages and annual messages come about when Betz asks questions to Andrea Schirnack, who answers them, and Betz then summarizes the answers. The messages available on the Betz website go back to October 2009. Andrea Schirnack states that she has been working with Betz for almost 20 years (as of 2019). Since January 2019, Schirnack has also published the joint messages on its website, as a podcast and as a transcript. Christina Hanauer points out in an article for the Evangelical Central Office for Weltanschauungsfragen that Betz also works with other spiritistic “media”, for example with Beatrix Rehrmann, who claims to receive messages from the “angels of joy and ease”.

In the 2012 annual report from infoSekta, the specialist agency for sectarian issues in Switzerland, Robert Betz's psychotherapeutic approach is classified in the article Psychologists on esoteric astray by Regina Spiess and Jürg Treichler as an “esoteric method without a scientifically recognized basis”. The advice and information center "Sekteninfo NRW", which is funded by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, charges Robert Betz's esoteric psychotherapy method with cases with serious negative consequences for mental health and family relationships.

In its contribution to Robert Betz, the department for sect and ideology issues in the Archbishop's Ordinariate of the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising questions Robert Betz's supposedly scientific approach as a psychologist or psychotherapist. One of Robert Betz's problematic theses is his “victim role theory”, according to which a victim is responsible for regaining mental and physical health. In this context, Betz speaks of “self-generated suffering”. In addition, outsiders should not interfere in the suffering of a victim: “Wanting to help and save usually weakens the other and prolongs their suffering.” According to Betz, “every disease [...] is a blessing and has a single clear cause”. Betz claims that illnesses are the result of suppressed feelings, for example with gastritis, stomach ulcers, gallstones, intervertebral discs, kidneys or respiratory problems. Even if Betz emphasizes that “inner work” does not replace going to the doctor, statements are made in his books and lectures that completely ignore scientifically proven pathophysiological mechanisms.

Christina Hanauer states that Betz creates the impression of a “one-man show”, which is reinforced by the strong presence of Betz portraits on his books and other offers.

Quote: “This is a library of time, a library of the flow of time to this woman who speaks, and to this man who asks and who summarizes this, Robert Betz, after consultation qua intuition, through mediality. The 'Emanuel system' is a specific feature that works with metaphors via information, with a pictorial language, in the images of which there are energies that the reader / listener can adjust to, even put in, in the sense of a 'constellation'. And then the energies of these images work. Thank you. And 'Greetings from God' , that means that this is about a source of light, of pure light. Greetings from God. "
