Robert Brubaker

Robert Brubaker (* 1963 in Manheim , Pennsylvania , USA) is an American opera singer ( tenor ).

Life

Robert Brubaker studied at Hartt College of Music in Harford , Connecticut. Shortly after graduating, he got an engagement at the New York City Opera , where he went from being a baritone in the choir to one of the first tenors in the house. He sang roles like Rodolfo in La Bohème , Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly , Duca in Rigoletto , Alfred in Die Fledermaus , Alfredo in La Traviata and Cavaradossi in Tosca .

In 1992 he sang a master in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg at the Metropolitan Opera and in 1994 in Rome the title role in Zemlinsky's Der Zwerg . Another stop in his career was the English National Opera in London, where he sang in Kurt Weill's Rise and Fall of Mahagonny in 1995 and Peter Grimes in 1999 .

In 2000 he made his debut at the Opéra Bastille as Pierre in Prokofiev's War and Peace . At the Salzburg Festival in 2002 he was heard as King Kandaules von Zemlinsky and as Alviano in Die Gezeichen by Franz Schreker .
