Robert De Vestel

Robert De Vestel (born January 5, 1925 , † September 30, 1997 ) was a set designer and art director .

Life

De Vestel began his career on the film staff in 1965 with television, where he initially worked on television series such as The Seaview , The Green Hornet and Batman . In 1970 he made his film debut and subsequently worked mostly on feature film productions, including the action films Dirty Harry and Kalter Hauch .

1974 he was responsible for the film adaptation of Tom Sawyer adventure together with Philip M. Jefferies for the Oscar in the category Best Art Direction nominated, but the award went this year to the classic movie The Sting . In 1977 De Vestel received another Oscar nomination for the science fiction film Escape to the 23rd Century , this time with Dale Hennesy . He could not win this award either, this year it went to the political thriller Die Unbrechlichen .

Towards the end of his career, De Vestel returned to television, where he worked until the mid-1980s. In 1986 he was nominated for a Primetime Emmy for the two-part television film Alice in Wonderland .
