Robert Anthony Franklin (born January 20, 1981 ) is an American basketball player who has been under contract with the Basketball Löwen Erfurt since 2018 .

career

In his native USA, Franklin played college-level basketball at Lassen College in California and at New Mexico Highlands University (second division of the NCAA ). In 2007 he began his professional career in Germany and played for BSV Wulfen in the first regional league.

Between 2008 and 2014, the American was a leading player at Citybasket Recklinghausen and rose with the team from the second to the first regional league in 2010, followed by promotion to the 2. Bundesliga ProB in 2012 . In the 2010/11 and 2011/12 seasons he was named Player of the Year in the first Regionalliga West by the internet service eurobasket.com . In the ProB, Franklin was also a leading player in the Recklinghäuser dress and achieved double-digit averages in the statistical categories points per game and rebounds per game in the 2012/13 and 2013/14 seasons. In 2014, Recklinghausen's league rival Herten Franklin secured his services. In January 2016 he returned to Recklinghausen.

For the 2016/17 season, Franklin moved to the Oettinger Rockets . He led the club's second men's team to promotion to the first regional league and also booked short appearances in the ProA team of the Thuringians, who made it into the basketball Bundesliga as runner-up this season . In the 2017/18 season he rose to the 2nd Bundesliga ProB with the second team of the Rockets as champion of the Regionalliga Süd-Ost. The Rockets did not notice the rise, however, Franklin played from then on like a large part of the promotion team for the newly founded Basketball Löwen Erfurt in the 2nd Bundesliga ProB. In the 2018/19 season he led the 2nd Bundesliga ProB in the point round in the statistical rating “rebounds per game” with 12.2.
