Robert Grabow

Robert Karl Alexander Grabow (born May 3, 1885 in Pyritz , Western Pomerania , † May 1, 1945 ) was a German politician of the DNVP .

Life

Grabow studied in Berlin and Greifswald law and a doctorate on Dr. iur. During his studies he became a member of the Berlin Landsmannschaft Guilelmia and the Landsmannschaft Silesia Greifswald . After being wounded as veterans of the First World War he was in Stettin in the local government worked and was in January 1918 Second Mayor in Memel in East Prussia . From October 1919 he was first mayor there and from January 1920 he was appointed mayor .

In 1919 he became a member of the Provincial Parliament of the Province of East Prussia (the mandate expired with the separation of the Memel area). From February to September 1919 he was a member of the first regional directorate of the Memel area , which has since been separated from East Prussia , then a member of the State Council, and in January 1926 President of the Economic Council. He represented Memel before the ambassadors' conference in Paris in November 1922 and in March 1924 led a delegation to the League of Nations in Geneva . As a member of the Memelland People's Party , he was elected in May 1926 as one of the five Memeland representatives to the Lithuanian Seimas in Kaunas .

In 1930, Grabow succeeded Ernst Heydemann as Lord Mayor of Rostock . After the National Socialists came to power in 1933, he was able to hold onto this position until 1935, but then had to give way to the National Socialist Walter Volgmann . Because of his expertise in administrative matters, he was assigned to this as mayor, so that Volgmann could concentrate on the fulfillment of tasks of a representative nature. When the city was occupied by Soviet troops on May 1, 1945, Grabow and his wife committed suicide.
