Robert Oswald from Ulrici

Robert Oswald von Ulrici (born May 29, 1816 in Lübben , † October 31, 1886 in Wannsee near Berlin ) was a German forester . From 1880 to 1885 he served as Oberland forester and Secretary Head of the entire Prussian forest administration .

life and work

Robert Oswald Ulrici was the son of August Friedrich Ulrici and Susette Emilie nee Zinke. His father was a counselor at the Higher Regional Court in Frankfurt (Oder) and so he attended grammar school there until 1837. After a practical course with the chief forester Ferdinand von Hagen in Limmritz , he studied three semesters at the Neustadt-Eberswalde Forest Academy and then three semesters of law and political science in Berlin. In 1842 he was appointed government and forest trainee and in 1847 government and forest assessor.

As head forester he worked in Morbach near Trier in 1848 , as forest inspector in Paderborn in 1850 and in Potsdam in 1853 . In the following year he was forester and as such in 1856 transferred to Liegnitz . For forester transported (1860) he went in 1861 as "Laborers" (a kind of wizard ) to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and domains in Berlin. In 1868 he became forest master and finally in 1880 as chief forest master and ministerial director of the entire Prussian forestry. His health forced him to seek his retirement in 1884, which he entered on April 1, 1885. At the same time he was raised to the nobility . He was also honored with the Red Eagle Order II. Class and the Crown Order II. Class .

In 1928 a street in a forest settlement in Berlin-Wannsee was named Ulricistraße after him.
