Robert Prosky (* 13 December 1930 as Robert Porzuczek in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania , † 8. December 2008 in Washington, DC ) was an American actor of Polish origin.

Life

Prosky studied economics at Temple University in Philadelphia before moving into the arts by winning a talent show and becoming an actor. For more than 20 years he was on stage as a character actor in Washington's Stage Arena .

For his portrayal of Shelly Levene in the Broadway production of Glengarry Glen Ross , he was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Actor in 1984. Robert Prosky's film career began in 1981 with the role of Leo , boss of a gangster gang, in The Loner . Since then, Prosky has not only played in the theater, he has also appeared in numerous films.

In addition to his theater and film work, Prosky starred in television series such as Hill Street Police Station , Veronica and Practice - The Lawyers . He became known to a wide audience through larger supporting roles in movies such as Dead Man Walking , Gremlins 2 - The Return of the Little Monsters and Mrs. Doubtfire - The Prickly Nanny .

Prosky was married since 1960. His sons John and Andy Prosky are also actors. Robert Prosky died a few days before his 78th birthday of complications after heart surgery.
