Robert Swede

Robert Konstantin Swede ( Russian Роберт Густавович Шведе , born November 24, jul. / 6. December  1806 greg. In Moiseküll , † July 16 . Jul / 28. July  1871 . Greg in Grafe field at Lemsal ) was a Baltic German portraits and landscape painter .

Life

Swede was the son of the estate manager Gustav Friedrich Schwede and Julie, nee Kley. He was married twice; his second wife was Elisabeth, née Horst. His sons, the Real Councilors of State Johann (* 1855) and Leopold (1864–1950) each come from one of the father's two marriages. Theodor Schwede (1819–1863) was his cousin.

The talent of Sweden was recognized by Carl Timoleon von Neff , who was from there a teacher, role model and supporter to him. He became a student at the St. Petersburg Academy . In 1847 the Sankt Peterburg Academy awarded him the title of free artist (academic). Robert Schwede was active in Saint Petersburg , where he was one of the most popular portrait painters. In 1852 he acquired the Dannenberg estate in Courland and has since worked in Riga .
