Roberto Reinaldo Cáceres González

Roberto Reinaldo Cáceres González (born April 16, 1921 in Buenos Aires , † January 13, 2019 in Montevideo ) was an Argentine clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Melo in Uruguay .

Life

Roberto Reinaldo Cáceres González, son of a Uruguayan family, was born in Buenos Aires. After spending several years in Argentina, the family returned to Uruguay, where he studied philosophy and theology. He was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Montevideo on July 15, 1945 in Montevideo .

Pope John XXIII appointed him on January 2, 1962 Bishop of Melo. The Apostolic Nuncio in Uruguay, Archbishop Raffaele Forni , donated him episcopal ordination on March 19 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Miguel Paternain CSsR , Bishop Emeritus of Florida , and Orestes Santiago Nuti Sanguinetti SDB , Bishop of Canelones . His motto was "In nomine Domini". He participated in all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council .

On April 23, 1996, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
