Robin Simone Givens (born November 27, 1964 in New York City , New York ) is an American actress .

Life

Robin Givens' father, Reuben Givens, left the family when she was a child. She first played the violin , then she devoted herself to acting. She studied at the New York American Academy of Dramatic Arts and Sarah Lawrence College .

Givens appeared on the Bill Cosby Show in 1985 . In the television drama The Callgirl Club (1986), she played on the side of Faye Dunaway . She took on the leading role in the television thriller Hours of Fear (1989). In the crime comedy Harlem Action - A Black Comedy (1991) she starred opposite Forest Whitaker , in the comedy Boomerang (1992) she starred alongside Eddie Murphy in one of the leading roles. In 1991, she received the ShoWest Convention's Female Star of Tomorrow award .

In the comedy Bittersweet Kisses (1994) Givens played one of the main roles again. She was nominated for the 2004 Black Reel Award for the role in the television drama Hollywood Wives: The New Generation (2003), in which she appeared alongside Farrah Fawcett .

Since 2017, she has played the role of Mayor Sierra McCoy of the fictional city of Riverdale in the Netflix series of the same name . Also in 2017, she had a guest appearance in the seventh season of the series Once Upon a Time in which she impersonated the role of Eudora , mother of Princess Tiana .

Givens was married to Mike Tyson from 1988 to 1989 . In 1997 she married Svetozar Marinkovic. She has two sons born in 1992 and 1999.
