Robin Swicord (* 1952 in Columbia , South Carolina ) is an American screenwriter and director .

Life

Robin Swicord is a busy screenwriter. She wrote the script for the Oscar-winning film Die Geisha (Memoirs of a Geisha) . She has also written other scripts for Matilda , Betty and Her Sisters , The Magical Sisters , The Perez Family and Shag .

She made her debut as a director in 1993 in the short film The Red Coat , for which she also wrote the screenplay. She gained international fame as a director for the 2007 film The Jane Austen Club based on the 2004 bestselling novel by Karen Joy Fowler , for which she also wrote the screenplay. Robin Swicord and colleague Eric Roth are responsible for the screenplay of the film The Strange Case of Benjamin Button , which was released in German cinemas in 2009 and which was directed by David Fincher based on a short story by F.
