Robin Weihager (born April 22, 1988 in Hässleholm ) is a Swedish ice hockey player who has been under contract with EV Landshut in the DEL2 since July 2020 .
Career
Weihager initially went through the junior teams of the Malmö Redhawks from the 2003/04 season , before he ran for the first time for the professional team in the HockeyAllsvenskan in the 2007/08 season and received a total of 36 missions. He also spent most of the following year with the Redhawks and continued to play five games for the Sparta Warriors in the Norwegian GET league . Between 2009 and 2012, the defensive player had a regular place with the Redhawks , but moved to the French club Morzine-Avoriaz in the summer of 2012 after moderate performance in the 2011/12 season . There the Swede was able to achieve 21 scorer points in 29 games in the main round and still five scorer points in eight play-off games.
In July 2013 Weihager signed a contract with Starbulls Rosenheim , for which he played a total of 53 games in the DEL2 in the 2013/14 season and scored 16 goals and 29 assists, making him the most attacking defensive player in the league. He was then awarded both defender and player of the year in the DEL2. Due to his achievements, the right-handed shooter was able to recommend himself for higher tasks and was signed in April 2014 by the Krefeld Penguins from the German Ice Hockey League . Weihager initially had problems building on his previous performance in the 2014/15 season and only recorded one goal in 45 games.
In February 2016 Weihager moved to EC VSV in the Austrian Ice Hockey League and scored 8 points in 15 games. On August 4, 2016 he was signed by the Graz 99ers , where he replaced Troy Vance , who had failed the fitness test.
Weihager is considered to be a solid two-way defender who, due to his hard slap shot, is regularly used in overpowering situations and is used as a blueliner .
