RockRainer is a German hip-hop / electro-pop band from Friesenheim and Berlin with a changing line-up. The band has made a name for itself primarily with their special mix of 1980s-heavy synth melodies and witty-ironic rap lyrics as well as their colorful and bizarre stage performances.

history

RockRainer was founded in 2005 by Sandro De Lorenzo and Ralf Steinert in Friesenheim (Baden) . In 2006 their first EP “ Bad Songs for Bad People” was released , which they released through their own distribution and whose single “ Herzlich Willkommen” caused the first radio airplays and attention and enabled the band to make their first appearances.

In 2007 the singer and rapper Sarah Danzeisen and the live musicians Lukas Meister (bass), Timmy Hargesheimer (drums), DJ Clark Cable (DJ) and Edelprolet (keyboard) joined the band as permanent members. After numerous concerts and tours, the first sound carrier of the new line-up was released in 2008: 80s action film was a CD / DVD box with 8 songs and 8 music videos. The sound of the mini-album consisted in equal parts of electro-pop and acoustic hip-hop pieces. The first national successes were achieved with the singles 80s action film and Angst vorm Nobility , a parody of Falco's Austropop (radio and TV airplays on MTV , Yavido as well as competition successes and funding from the Volkswagen Sound Foundation ).

From 2009, De Lorenzo, Steinert and Danzeisen concentrated again on the electronic version of their sound and published in 2009, EP Dance Dance Dance with the single road from here that numerous radios, especially the ARD - Youth Waves was played. In 2010 the EP Elektrorummelplatz followed and in 2011 the free download album Calendar of Abartigcoolness .

At the beginning of 2012, De Lorenzo, Steinert and Danzeisen founded the independent label Rummelplatzmusik in order to publish their own music as well as other bands via this platform. Steinert left the label at the end of 2012 and De Lorenzo and Danzeisen expanded the label work and their own live activities. Extensive tours and more EPs followed in 2012 ( Better than a bad movie ), 2013 ( I'll probably never come back ) and 2014 ( Keep running ).

Since 2014, De Lorenzo and Danzeisen have been concentrating more on label work for fairground music and the constantly growing artist roster as well as musical solo projects, which has resulted in a sharp decline in RockRainer's activity.
