Rocky Carroll , actually Roscoe Fulton Carroll , (born July 8, 1963 in Cincinnati , Ohio ) is an American actor .

Life

In 1981 he graduated from the School for the Creative and Performing Arts and decided to deepen his acting experience. After graduating from Webster University , Conservatory of Theater Arts, St. Louis with a BFA degree, he moved to New York . There he worked in Joseph Papp's " Shakespeare on Broadway". As a member of the Joe Papps Shakespeare series , he helped open the gates to African Americans by portraying roles rarely played by African American actors. Due to his roots in the theater, he continues to play an active role in plays. Later he decided to go to television and cinema. So he has a leading role as Dr. Keith Wilkes on the Chicago Hope television series . There he already played with Lauren Holly and Mark Harmon , who both later appeared on Navy CIS . He himself only joined Navy CIS as Deputy Director Leon Vance (and later Lauren Holly's successor as Director) during the fifth season . From the twelfth season he directed several episodes. Even in the Navy CIS - spin-off NCIS: Los Angeles and NCIS: New Orleans , he is seen as a Director.
