Roderich Walther
Roderich Walther (born October 11, 1884 in Hanau ; † October 18, 1966 in Bad Orb ) was a German administrative lawyer in East Prussia.
Life
Walther studied law at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg and became a member of the Corps Rhenania Freiburg in 1903 . When Werner Meißner headed the Kösener Congress in 1905 , Walther was the recorder. In 1906 he passed the trainee exam . After he had passed the assessor examination at the Kammergericht in 1911 , he was continuously in the eastern regions of the German Reich from 1912 to 1945 ; because he was interested in everything that was connected with the "Ostpolitik" at the time. He entered the judicial service of the Kingdom of Prussia and was a public prosecutor's assistant in Posen and Marienwerder for seven years . During this time he took part in the First World War . In 1920 he was taken over as a government assessor in the internal administration of the Free State of Prussia . In 1921/22 he was administrator of the remainder of the Tilsit Land area . On October 16, 1921, he became provisional, and on August 17, 1922, he became district administrator in the Gumbinnen district . After 1933, as a member of the German National People's Party , he survived political hostility mainly because the population of his circle stood by him. Since 1943 he was also the administrator of the Tilsit Police Department and was also a district administrator in the Tilsit-Ragnit district. He only left his post in the battle for East Prussia . After the flight and expulsion of Germans from Central and Eastern Europe from 1945 to 1950 , he and his family found a place to stay in Marburg . He collected "his gumbinners", which were scattered all over West Germany . They thanked him with the appointment as "district elder". At the end of 1953, Walther initiated Bielefeld's sponsorship for the city and district of Gumbinnen. Shortly after his 82nd birthday, he died while taking a cure in Bad Orb.
