Vulović was born on May 1, 1955 in the Bosnian city of Bijeljina . His musical career began in 1972 when he published the love songs Kristina and Napustićeš me ti . In 1988 he released his second album Paša and gave concerts in several European countries with large Serbian diaspora .

During the Bosnian War , downtown Bijeljina was completely destroyed, while Vulović's house on Gavrilo Princip Street was also damaged. Vulović volunteered for the war and became a member of the 1st Semberska Brigada . Hence the name of an album, Semberski Junaci . All proceeds were donated to the benefit of injured soldiers. After the success of his first album, Vulović joined the so-called “ Garda Panteri ”, an elite paramilitary unit of the Bosnian Serb army under the command of Ljubiša Savić . On the initiative of his commander there, Pero Čolić, he continued his musical career and released his best-known album Panteri in 1993. This had a very positive effect on the morale of his unit. The album Crni Bombarder was released in 1995 and was Vulović's last war album.

In 1995 Vulović accepted a position as professor at the University of Agriculture and Medicine in Bijeljina . He later also became the director of this facility. In 2012 Vulović retired .

In 1997 he recorded the album Zbog tebe , which again contains love songs and ballads. His seventh album, his first in 16 years, should be released in 2017. However, the release of the album was postponed. In February 2018, however, he published a new piece on his official YouTube channel called "U srcu te čuvam". Here he stayed true to the well-known style of his war albums, but this new piece has a significantly increased production quality.

His songs were spread over the Internet and made him known internationally.

Political opinions

Vulović sees Greeks and Russians as best friends of the Serbs. He has a positive opinion of Bosniaks and thinks they are good people as long as you don't provoke them. Roki Vulović assesses the Chetniks and the partisans positively despite their crimes against the civilian population and regards them as heroes of the Second World War. However, he is clearly negative about the Croatians .

Vulović has the greatest respect for Josip Broz Tito despite his Croatian origins and Vladimir Putin . He is opposed to Serbia's accession to the EU and believes that both Boris Tadić and Tomislav Nikolić do not respect the people's opinion.

family

Vulović's wife Jelica is a philologist and has written several songs with her husband. Vulović has two children, a son and a daughter. He is fluent in French and Italian and has a relatively good knowledge of German, which enables him to hold conversations in German.

During his career, Vulović visited many countries in Western Europe , with the exception of Spain . Vulović dreams of visiting Russia one day .

During the 1990s, his visa applications to the United States were denied several times. This was justified by the fact that Vulović was a singer of revolutionary and anti- NATO songs.
