Roger Allam (born October 26, 1953 in Bow , London ) is a British film and theater actor.

Life

Roger Allam was born in Bow, an East End district of London. He studied acting at the University of Manchester . Since 1981 he has appeared in more than 50 film and television productions.

In the 2006 film The Queen by Stephen Frears , he played the Queen's private secretary Sir Robin Janvrin at the side of Helen Mirren . From 2008 until he was hired in 2013, he played alongside Stephanie Cole , Benedict Cumberbatch and John Finnemore in the BBC Radio 4 sitcom Cabin Pressure, written by Finnemore, as the charming and self-confident copilot Douglas Richardson. Since 2012 he has played the role of DI Fred Thursday in the crime series The Young Inspector Morse . Axel Lutter will synchronize it as Thursday .

For his acting performances on the theater stage, he has received the Laurence Olivier Award twice.
