action

Henry Wilt is a not very assertive vocational school teacher who would love to murder his emotionally cold and dominating wife Eva. She demands from him what he cannot give her - money and social standing. The disaster takes its course when Wilt is tied almost undressed to an inflatable, life-size rubber doll at a sprawling party by a friend of his wife and thus embarrassed in front of all the guests.

Humiliated, he escapes the party, frees himself from the doll and gets rid of it in a building pit on the way home. In doing so, however, he is observed by residents who believe the doll is a corpse. When his wife doesn't return from the party, Wilt is accused of murder. Since the doll was accidentally covered with concrete on the construction site, the search for truth drags on. Inspector Flint takes on the case and tries in many ways to get the alleged murderer to confess. He not only suspects him of the murder of his wife, but also considers him a mass murderer, against whom the police are investigating.

When the pressure from the police persists, Wilt loses patience and tells an absurd version of the murders he allegedly committed. Among other things, it is ultimately assumed that Wilt disposed of his wife's body in the meat factory. What generally triggers disgust and horror, however, earns him the respect of his problem class 'meat III'. Ultimately, Wilt's innocence is cleared up, and his wife finds herself unspectacular on friends' yacht . However, his experiences have brought Wilt more self-confidence and independence from his wife's whims.
