Roland Kohn (born March 25, 1950 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein ) is a German publicist and politician ( FDP ). He is currently head of the FDP's “Freedom and Ethics” commission.

Life and work

After graduating from high school in 1969, Kohn studied philosophy and political science at the University of Mannheim under Hans Albert , Georg Geismann and Max Kaase , which he completed with a Magister Artium (MA). He then worked as a research assistant and journalist, mainly in the role of the author of articles in liberal papers. After leaving the Bundestag in 1998, he worked as a freelance consultant for political communication.

In 1994, Kohn was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany with the Order of Merit . He has been married since 1973.

Kohn has been a member of the FDP since 1969. From 1980 to 1991 he was chairman of the FDP district association Kurpfalz and worked from 1980 to 1983 as press spokesman for the FDP state association in Baden-Württemberg . From 1987 to 1995 he was a member of the state board of the FDP Baden-Württemberg, from 1991 to 1995 state chairman of the party and from 1992 to 1995 a member of the FDP federal board . In the federal election in 1983 he was elected to the German Bundestag , to which he was a member until 1998. He always entered parliament via the Baden-Württemberg state list .

Furthermore, Kohn is a member of the board of trustees of the President Friedrich-Ebert-Gedenkstätte Foundation and a member of the Board of Directors of the Reinhold Maier Foundation . He was also a member of the board of trustees of the Wolf-Erich-Kellner Memorial Foundation . In 2008 he became Vice President of the Association of Former Members of the German Bundestag and the European Parliament .

Since 2011, Kohn has been chairman of the FDP's "Freedom and Ethics" policy committee.
