Roland Nelles

Roland Nelles (born December 7, 1971 in Bonn ) is a German journalist . Since August 1, 2017 he has been working as chief correspondent for SPIEGEL ONLINE in Washington DC, USA.

Life

After completing school and high school (including at the Shiplake College in Henley-on-Thames , Great Britain), Nelles attended the journalism school of the Axel Springer Verlag in Berlin and Hamburg from 1990 to 1992 . During this time he worked as one of the first West German journalists for the former GDR newspaper “Der Morgen” in Berlin. He then became editor of the " Hamburger Abendblatt " and the newspaper " Die Welt ". From 1994 to 1999 he studied political science at the Otto Suhr Institute of the Free University of Berlin .
