Roland Oehme

Roland Oehme (born October 27, 1935 in Grünhainichen ) is a German screenwriter and director .

Life

After graduating from high school in Marienberg in 1954 and five years of military service in the National People's Army , he studied directing at the Potsdam-Babelsberg University of Film and Television from 1960 to 1964 . He finished his studies with his diploma film "Story about a love" (GDR 1964, short film).

Parallel to his studies, he completed an internship in the DEFA studios. Here he was allowed to follow Me to the comedy , Canaillen! work as an assistant director to his mentor Ralf Kirsten and thus gain initial experience. In 1964 he refused to realize a film project because he did not like the script, although he had just finished his studies. This influenced his later career, as he was henceforth employed in the documentary film area of ​​DEFA Studios , where he worked with directors such as Hanns Anselm Perten , Wolfgang Luderer and Kurt Maetzig from 1964 to 1967 . His first self-directed activity was the confusion comedy Not with me, Madam! . In addition to his work for television, he also worked as an author and director for theatrical performances, for example in 1966 he staged “Asylum Law” by Federico S. Inclän in the small house of the Rostock Volkstheater .

In addition to various theater and television productions, nine DEFA films, including the big crowd puller The Man Who Came After Grandma, he became a freelance director and author in 1991 as part of the reunification. He staged his first independent project “2099 or the chance to start over” in a theater in Austria, which, however, had to file for bankruptcy after a few months .

From 1993 to 2002 he staged the Störtebeker Festival in Ralswiek on the island of Rügen , before leaving the project at his own request. From 2006 to 2013 he worked in Waren (Müritz) at the Waren Müritz open air games. There he was the author of the Müritz saga , a cycle of theater pieces whose fictional acts are set in the Müritz region. His first piece "Time of Hope" was based on an idea by Nils Düwell in 2006. Another part of the saga followed annually.
