Rolf Persch

Rolf Persch (born June 7, 1949 in Bonn ; † March 5, 2015 in Blankenheim ) was a German writer and reciter .

Life

After attending elementary and commercial school, Rolf Persch completed an apprenticeship as a wholesaler . From 1966 he made extensive trips to Greece , Spain , Italy , Turkey , Syria and (by bike) to Marrakech / Morocco . Persch carried out various activities, including a. he was a taxi driver , circus worker, small actor and extras in television productions . From 1969 to 1974 he was addicted to opiates . In 1974 a sentence to a term of imprisonment for illegal drug possession , but the parole was suspended. After he had overcome his drug addiction through his own efforts in the early 1980s , Persch turned to literature. He began writing short poems , also appeared as a reciter of his own texts and took part in numerous literary festivals. In 1997 he received a residency grant from the artist village of Schöppingen . He has lived in the Eifel since 1999 , there since 2007 in Üxheim , and in Cologne . He died on March 5, 2015 in the Ahrdorf district of Blankenheim .
