Román Cuello , full name Román Marcelo Cuello Arizmendi , (born April 4, 1977 in Santa Lucía ) is a former Uruguayan football player .

Career

The 1.88 meter offensive player Cuello was at the beginning of his career from 1997 to 1998 in the ranks of the Montevideo Wanderers . In the 1999 and 2000 seasons he was a member of the first division team of Frontera Rivera Chico . In 2001 he played for Club Atlético Cerro . In 2002, Cuello was active at Miramar Misiones . In 2003 a career station followed at Manta FC in Ecuador . In the 2004 season he completed 22 games in the Primera División for Club Atlético Rentistas , scoring eight goals. In mid-August 2005 he joined the Peruvian club Alianza Lima until the end of the year . In the Clausura 2006 he played nine league games for the Uruguayan first division club and remained without a personal goal. From mid-2006 he continued his career in Chile with Rangers de Talca . In January 2007 he moved to Deportes Melipilla within the Chilean Primera División . Via a station at Juventud in the Clausura 2008, Cuello came to Inter Baku in the same year . There he met his compatriot Walter Guglielmone and became the Azerbaijani champion with the team in May 2008. In late February 2009 he left the Azerbaijani club to join CD Palestino in Chile. By mid-August 2009 he ran there in nine first division matches and scored two goals. He then returned to Uruguay and played for the Racing Club de Montevideo until February 2010 , where he was used in six first division games in the Apertura 2009 and scored two goals. He was also used in a game (no goal) of the 2010 Copa Libertadores . From February 2010 to mid-January 2011 he scored five goals in 23 first division appearances as part of a commitment at CD Cobresal . Afterwards, Centro Atlético Fénix was his employer until the beginning of October 2012 . Across the seasons, he played 32 first division matches with the Montevideans and scored four times in the opposing goal (2010/11: 12 games / 3 goals; 2011/12: 20/1). He has also made two appearances (no goal) in the 2011 Copa Sudamericana . He played for Boston River from October 2012 to late September 2013 . He then tied himself contractually to the Rampla Juniors , for which he ran five times (no goal) in the Segunda División, including his last appearance on December 21, 2013 against Deportivo Maldonado in the Apertura of the 2013/14 season.
