Roman Rischatowitsch Safiullin ( Russian Роман Ришатович Сафиуллин ; born August 7, 1997 in Podolsk ) is a Russian tennis player .

Career

Junior tour

Roman Safiullin achieved his best placement in the juniors in May 2014 with the 2nd place after he won the Grade A tournament in Milan against his compatriot Andrei Rublev . In January 2015 he won the individual competition at the Australian Open .

Professional tour

On the professional tour, Safiullin mainly plays tournaments on the lower-class Future and Challenger Tour. On the Future Tour, he has already won ten singles and one double title.

Safiullin made his debut on the ATP World Tour in Moscow in 2017 . He received a wildcard for the individual field and competed in the first round against the Indian qualifier Yuki Bhambri , against whom he lost in two sets with 2: 6, 4: 6. After scratching the top 300 in March 2015, it has fallen by over 150 places in the world rankings since then.
