Roman Mirosław Wójcicki (born January 8, 1958 in Nysa , Poland ) is a former Polish soccer player and today's soccer coach , who also has German citizenship.
Club career as a player
Roman Wójcicki began his career as a defender in Poland and played there for the clubs Odra Opole (1978), Śląsk Wrocław (1981-1982) and Widzew Łódź (1982-1986). With Widzew Łódź he won the Polish cup competition in 1985.
For the 1986/87 season he moved to the German Bundesliga for promoted FC 08 Homburg . In two seasons he made 59 Bundesliga appearances in which he scored eight goals.
In 1988/89 he played one season with FC 08 Homburg in the 2nd Bundesliga . In 1989 Roman Wójcicki moved to Hannover 96 in the 2nd Bundesliga . There he played four seasons until 1993. In total, he made 156 games in the 2nd Bundesliga in five years, in which he scored 20 goals.
His greatest triumph as a player in Germany was winning the 1992 DFB Cup with second division Hannover 96. In the penalty shoot-out in the final against Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach , he converted the penalty into a 2-2 equalizer. In the end, Hannover surprisingly won 4-3 on penalties.
In 1993 Wójcicki switched to TSV Havelse as a player .
National team career as a player
Roman Wójcicki played 62 senior international matches for the Polish national soccer team and took part in the 1978 , 1982 and 1986 World Cups. While he was not shown at the World Cup in 1978 when he was twenty, he was substituted on for third place at halftime in 1982 : Poland won 3-2 against France . At the 1986 World Cup, he played all four of Poland's games over the full playing time until his defeat in the round of 16 against Brazil .
Career as a coach
Roman Wójcicki began playing the role of player-coach while he was still playing at TSV Havelse. He later moved permanently to the coaching bench before moving to SV Damla Genc in 1995. This was followed by engagements at Werder Hannover and FC Wacker Neustadt as an A-junior coach.
Roman Wójcicki has been running a physiotherapy practice near Neustadt am Rübenberge since 2001 and only works as a trainer after work. In January 2007 he took over again as coach at SV Damla Genc .
Wójcicki was still active as a senior in the old man's area. As a player, he won the Krombacher over-50 Lower Saxony championship in Dunum in 2011 with the over 50 from Hannover 96 . Hannover won the final against hosts SC Dunum 4-0.
