Roncone (German outdated: Rungaun or Ronkan) is a fraction of the municipality ( comune ) Sella Giudicarie and was an independent municipality in Trentino in the autonomous region of Trentino-South Tyrol until 2015 .

geography

Roncone is located about 36 kilometers west-southwest of Trento at an altitude of 842 mslm in the Inner Judiciary . The Rio Adanà flows through the village, a tributary of the Chiese , into which the artificial runoff of the Lago di Roncone , northeast of Roncone, also flows.

history

The area around Roncone was probably settled during the Bronze Age, as evidence shows. In the 13th century, there were repeated disputes with neighboring towns over willow rights in the surrounding mountains. These must even have taken on almost warlike features, as can be seen from a document from the beginning of the 13th century in which a war between Roncone and its southern neighbor Por is mentioned.

In the first half of the 19th century , the Strada del Caffaro was passed by Roncone, which was built under Austria , thus connecting the place to a modern road network.

During the First World War , Roncone lay directly behind the Austrian front line and after the Italian declaration of war between May and December 1915, the population was evacuated to the neighboring communities to the north. In 1918 the place was set on fire by the Italian artillery.

On January 1, 2016, the municipalities of Roncone, Bondo , Breguzzo and Lardaro merged to form the new municipality of Sella Giudicarie. On December 31, 2015, the municipality had 1,445 inhabitants on an area of 29.8 km². Neighboring communities were Bondo, Breguzzo, Daone , Lardaro, Praso and Tione di Trento . The fractions Fontanedo and Pra di Bondo belonged to the municipality .

traffic

The Strada Statale 237 del Caffaro leads through the village from Brescia to Calavino .
