Roompot
Roompot Vakanties (Roompot Service BV) is a Dutch chain of holiday parks in the Netherlands, Belgium , Germany , France and Spain . It belongs to the French private equity company PAI partners and is based in Goes , province of Zeeland .
Jurgen van Cutsem has been managing director of the company since January 1, 2014 .

The parks are holiday complexes in mostly wooded areas or areas near lakes, most of which are located in the province of Zeeland. For example, there is a connection to the North Sea , the IJsselmeer or various nature reserves . The parks offer bungalows , chalets , cottages , family villas , country houses and apartments for travelers . The parks, which are largely designed for family trips, differ both in their size and in the style of the residential buildings and in the leisure facilities offered. For example, depending on the park, visitors can use swimming pools, supermarkets, bowling alleys, billiard centers, bike rentals, boat docks, restaurants or wellness areas .
In certain systems it is possible to rent or buy accommodation for longer periods of time.
history
Roompot was founded in 1962 and started operating campsites, the first being on the island of Noord-Beveland . The campsite was expanded to an area of 24 hectares in the early 1970s and the first holiday homes were built. The first swimming pool was opened in 1983. In 1997, under the Roompot Care brand, in cooperation with regional hospitals, the opportunity was created to make use of care and dialysis offers while on vacation. From 2005 Roompot bought building land in the Netherlands as well as in the neighboring countries of Germany, Belgium and France as well as in Spain for the construction of further holiday parks.
Between 2009 and 2014 Roompot acquired the Belgian luxury holiday accommodation provider Largo and its competitor Hogenboom Parks and built hotels in addition to the parks . In November 2016, the French company PAI partners bought Roompot Service BV for 503 million euros, after both net sales and visitor numbers had developed positively over the past four years . After two years in the possession of the French, Roompot achieved a turnover of around 400 million euros in 2018 according to the daily newspaper Het Financieele Dagblad . Despite everything, PAI partners stated at the end of 2019 that they wanted to sell the tourism company again for around 1 billion euros.
As of December 8, 2019, Roompot says it operates around 200 holiday parks and 23 campsites.
Accommodations
The accommodations differ significantly in terms of location, equipment and capacity. In addition to houses for single travelers or couples, residential properties are also available for several families or larger travel groups of ten or more people. Depending on the equipment class, extras such as saunas , fireplaces , washing machines, flat-screen TVs or private parking spaces can be found in the residential complexes .

criticism
Over the years, Roompot has received repeated criticism. The company's intrusion into nature was condemned, but also on the part of Consumentenbonds , a Dutch consumer organization , which criticized the hygiene conditions in some parks.
Others
From the beginning of 2015 to the end of 2019 Roompot was a sponsor of the Roompot-Charles cycling team .
The non-profit Koos Konijn Foundation was founded in 2016 . The foundation, named after the park's mascot, a rabbit, aims to enable families who are at risk of poverty or disease to take short vacations.
