Pink session

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The pink session was a gay and lesbian carnival session in the Cologne carnival . It first took place in 1995. She initiated a group around Hella von Sinnen , Cornelia Scheel , Georg Uecker , Ralph Morgenstern , Dada Stievermann and Maf Räderscheidt . The first meeting started with a prominent Sixpäck with Hella von Sinnen as president instead of the conventional 911 council .

In addition to many artists from the gay and lesbian scene, such as the Rosa Funken or the bearded cheerleaders Pink Poms, there were always members of the traditional Cologne Carnival , including a sensational appearance by the Cologne triumvirate, next to the stars of the scene on the stage of the pink meeting. So z. B. Michael Holm , Vicky Leandros , Gitte , Jürgen Marcus or the Weather Girls .

In the second year of the meeting, the WDR started with an annual TV recording. After Hella von Sinnen and others had already left the pink session in the fourth year, the artists took over the creative management “from the second link”, for example. B. Georg Roth alias Sister George, later Bernd v. Fehrn alias Wanda Rumor, Marcos Schlüter alias Renee Gligee, as well as Claus Vinçon and Stephan Runge (known for their scene anthem "Cologne, the hottest ass in the world").

In 2001, the Pink Session moved from its downtown Cologne venue, the Gloria Theater, in front of Cologne's gates to the much larger “Limelight”, where they sometimes held up to nine sessions in front of more than 1,000 spectators.

After more than 80 carnival sessions, over 150 different performances, more than 400 hours of meetings and several television broadcasts, the previous concept ended despite great success. In the summer of 2004, the WDR also terminated its collaboration. As a result, the creative minds of the Pink Session separated from their organizer and have been successfully organizing the smaller, more snappy and cabaret Röschen session in the Mülheim culture bunker since 2005 .

For two more years, the name of the Pink Session was the title of a major event that tried to uphold the previous cult with purchased artists and big names. After the 2005/2006 session there was no other event under this name.
