The Rostfleckige Helmling or Rostige Helmling ( Mycena zephirus ) is a type of fungus from the family of the Helmling relatives (Mycenaceae). The fruiting bodies appear from September to November preferentially in coniferous forests. The mushroom is not an edible mushroom.
features
Macroscopic features
The hat is 2–4 cm wide, bell-shaped at first, but soon spread out or hunched flat. The surface is grooved to radially furrowed and dirty whitish, pale cream to gray-brown in color and soon shows brownish-red spots. The vertex is typically colored fuchsia brown.
The lamellae are bulged on the handle or run down something with a tooth. They are distant and are slightly veined at the bottom. Young lamellae are whitish, but soon get rust-brown or flesh-pink spots. The spore powder is white.
The tubular, finely scaly stem is 6–8 cm long and 0.2–0.4 cm wide. It is creamy to grayish brown and at least in the lower half colored brownish red with age. The stem base is white tomentose to curly. The thin, whitish flesh smells and tastes faintly radish-like.
Microscopic features
The narrow, almost cylindrical spores are 10–13 µm long and 4–5 µm wide. The blunt spindle-shaped to slightly branched cystids are smooth.
Species delimitation
The very similar spotted helmling ( Mycena maculata ) usually grows in tufts on or on dead hardwood or coniferous wood.
Ecology and diffusion
The fruiting bodies of the rust-spotted helmet ring appear from September to November. They usually grow in groups under conifers, especially in moss-rich fir and mountain spruce forests.
meaning
The rust-stained Helmling is not an edible mushroom.
