Rostislav "Hugo" Haas (born December 13, 1968 in Opava ) is a former German - Czech ice hockey goalkeeper who has been working as an ice hockey goalkeeping coach since 2012.

Career

Haas played since the 1996/97 season with HC Slezan Opava in the highest Czech ice hockey league , the Extraliga . With his team he only reached the last place after the main round this season. Relegation could ultimately only be secured in the relegation after a 4: 3 win in a Best of Seven series against HC Becherovka Karlovy Vary . In the summer of 1998, those responsible at EHC Freiburg became aware of the then 29-year-old and were able to convince him that he would be involved in the 1st Bundesliga . The native Czech was the goalkeeper of the Wolves in the following years and was able to improve continuously. His best playing time was the 2001/02 season , when he conceded an average of 2.82 goals per game. At the end of the 2002/03 season , Haas was promoted to the German Ice Hockey League with the EHC. Despite the good performance of the goalie, the Wolves went straight back to the 2nd Bundesliga after their first season in the DEL.

Then the 187 cm tall goalkeeper joined the Schwenninger Wild Wings , with whom he was also active in the second highest German division. At Wild Wings, the native Czech with German nationality was in the squad until November 27, 2008, before he accepted a contract offer from the Augsburg Panthers, which binds him to the club until the end of the 2008/09 season . Haas was brought in to replace Leonhard Wild , who had recently suffered an injury to his inner ligament . In March 2009, Haas signed a new one-year contract with the Panthers to remain second goalkeeper behind Dennis Endras . After the end of the season, however, he asked for his contract to be terminated.

Between 2012 and 2014 Haas was the goalkeeping coach at HC Lev Prague , and since 2014 he has worked in the same position at Severstal Tscherepowez .
