Rot- und Rechtmurg is a protected landscape area (protected area number 2.37.050) in the Freudenstadt district .

Location and description

The protected area was created by ordinance of the Freudenstadt District Office of February 16, 1998. It is an area with forests that characterize the landscape, open meadow valleys and natural streams west of the Obertal district of the Baiersbronn community . The western part of the LSG overlaps with the Black Forest National Park . The LSG is part of the FFH area Wilder See-Hornisgrinde and Oberes Murgtal as well as the bird sanctuary in the Northern Black Forest . The reserve belongs to the Grindenschwarzwald and Enzhöhen natural areas .

Protection purpose

According to the Protected Area Ordinance, the protection purpose is to preserve the forest as a landscape-defining element in its uniqueness and diversity, in particular through

  • natural development of forests and forest edges
  • Securing and maintaining high-quality biotopes (Section 24a biotopes, biotopes according to forest function mapping)
  • Protection and care of the high-quality special locations and micro-habitats as well as keeping the meadow valleys open to preserve the typical character of the cultural landscape and to develop it through nature-friendly management
  • Securing and maintaining the near-natural streams with their different water regimes, impact and sliding banks as well as scouring as biotopes for plants and animals bound to water and as flood protection in the lower reaches.
