Salzstetter Horn is a nature reserve designated by the Karlsruhe Regional Council of July 31, 1997 with the number 2.209.

location

The nature reserve is located in the Obere Gäue natural area . It is located east of the Salzstetten district of the Waldachtal community and is part of FFH area No. 7516-341 Freudenstädter Heckengäu . The reserve is supplemented by the conservation area no. 2.37.048 salt Stetter Horn .

Protection purpose

According to the regulation, the protection purpose is:

  • the preservation and promotion of the semi-arid grasslands that are close to nature and rich in species, as well as the small-scale juniper heaths with their special flora and fauna;
  • the maintenance and promotion of a diverse range of perennial fringe flora along field hedges, forest edges and paths as ecologically important transition areas of different vegetation structures;
  • the protection, preservation and promotion of the hedges and field trees in exemplary form and diversity as well as the reading stone bars as components of the historical cultural landscape on shell limestone and as food, living and retreat areas of a rich insect, small mammal and avifauna;
  • the maintenance and promotion of a diverse range of perennial fringe flora along field hedges, forest edges and paths as ecologically important transition areas of different vegetation structures;
  • the maintenance and promotion of the flora accompanying the field margins due to the relatively extensive use of fields as a threatened and endangered plant community;
  • the protection, preservation and promotion of an extraordinarily rich and diverse animal world in an exemplary preserved landscape section of the Heckengäus and Schlehengau with a wide variety of biotope structures in a very small space.
