Kugler Hang is a nature reserve designated by the Karlsruhe Regional Council of November 12, 1982 with the number 2.060.
location
The nature reserve is located in the Obere Gäue natural area . It is located in the area of the city of Horb am Neckar and is part of the FFH area No. 7517-341 Horber Neckar slopes .
Protection purpose
According to the ordinance, the protection purpose is the preservation of a juniper heath that was formerly used as extensive sheep pasture with its natural landscape features. In particular, the following should be protected and promoted:
- the open juniper heather in its vegetation structure and its characteristic plant and animal communities in their species composition and diversity;
- the semi-arid lawn in its special form as a habitat for wild animals and plants.
Flora and fauna
The spherical flower , which gave the slope its name, thrives in the area . There are a good 270 fern and flowering plants and over 110 animal species known, including the red backed killer , the cross gentian and the blue bluer .
