Wertwiesen is a nature reserve designated by the Karlsruhe Regional Council of January 28, 1983 with the number 2.062.

location

The nature reserve is located in the Obere Gäue nature reserve, east of the Mühlen district of Horber and south of the Rohrdorf district of Eutingen . It is part of the FFH area No. 7517-341 Horber Neckar slopes .

Protection purpose

According to the ordinance, the protection purpose is the preservation of a natural section of the valley floodplain of the upper Neckar and its natural features. In particular, the following should be protected and promoted:

  • the course of the old silted Neckar loop as geomorphologically significant evidence;
  • the semi-arid lawn in its special form as a habitat for wild animals and plants.

Flora and fauna

The common snipe is a regular breeding bird in the sedge stocks of the Wertwiesen . Other breeding birds found: reed bunting , field owl , swamp reed warbler and yellow mockers .
