Glaswiesen and Glaswald is a nature reserve designated by the Karlsruhe Regional Council of May 24, 1989 with the number 2.118.
location
The nature reserve is located in the Central Black Forest natural area . It borders the north-western outskirts of Alpirsbach and lies in the valley and on the slopes of the Alpirsbächles . 2% of its area is part of the FFH area No. 7616-341 Kleinkinzig- und Rötenbachtal .
Protection purpose
According to the ordinance, the main protection purpose is the preservation, development and care of the diversely structured wetland with its open, differently moist meadow and tall herbaceous meadows, the fringing communities that lead to the forest and the adjacent forest as an important habitat of various, sometimes rare, specialized and endangered animal species .
Flora and fauna
In the area, the gray sedge , the hedgehog sedge and the broad-leaved stendola make up remarkable populations. Among breeding birds, the black woodpecker , field owl , blackcap and wood warbler should be mentioned. Bird species that breed in the neighboring forest and use the area as a feeding ground are siskins and crossbills . Noteworthy is the occurrence of the dragonfly species Striped Spring Damselfly , which is only distributed like islands in Central Europe.
