The FFH area Freudenstädter Heckengäu is a protected area (protected area identifier DE-7516-341) in the German state of Baden-Württemberg that was registered in 2005 by the Karlsruhe Regional Council according to Directive 92/43 / EEC (Fauna-Flora-Habitat Directive) . With the ordinance of the regional council of Karlsruhe on the definition of areas of community importance of October 12, 2018, the protected area was established.

The widely scattered, 1033.6 hectare protected area belongs to the natural areas 122 - Obere Gäue , 150 - Black Forest edge plates and 151 - Grindenschwarzwald and Enzhöhen . It is located east of Freudenstadt and extends over the markings of ten cities and municipalities:
- Dornstetten : 82.58 ha = 8%
- Eutingen im Gäu : 92.90 ha = 9%
- Freudenstadt : 268.39 ha = 26%
- Smooth : 41.29 ha = 4%
- Horb am Neckar : 268.39 ha = 26%
- Loßburg : 41.29 ha = 4%
- Pfalzgrafenweiler : 10.32 ha = 1%
- Schopfloch : 30.97 ha = 3%
- Seewald : 20.65 ha = 2%
- Waldachtal : 175.48 ha = 17%
Description and purpose of protection
A biotope complex spanning a wide landscape in the transition between the Black Forest and the Upper Gau. The slopes of the railway line between Dornstetten and Eutingen im Gäu serve as a networking element. The protected area consists of 32 sub-areas.
