About this picture

Schopfloch is a municipality in Baden-Württemberg in the Freudenstadt district in the Northern Black Forest region .

geography

Geographical location

Schopfloch is located at the transition from Schlehen- and Heckengäu to the Black Forest between Horb and Freudenstadt , about 13 km from the district town.

Community structure

The community of Schopfloch consists of the former communities of Oberiflingen, Schopfloch and Unteriflingen. Only the villages of the same name belong to all three earlier communities.

In the area of the former community of Schopfloch lies the deserted Stadthof, in the area of the former community of Unteriflingen is the deserted old town of Rockesberg.

history

Schopfloch was first mentioned in 772 in a deed of donation from Lorsch Abbey. The feudal sovereignty over a farm in Schopfloch, perhaps also over the whole place, was held by the Count Palatine of Tübingen of the Horber Line in the 13th century , possibly also for a time by the Counts of Hohenberg . The place later belonged to the Geroldseckian rule of Loßburg and was sold with this in 1501 to the Alpirsbach monastery , from which it was sold in 1526 to the von Hornberg , who sold the place to Württemberg in 1589 . During the reorganization as part of the Napoleonic land consolidation, Schopfloch was assigned to the office and later Oberamt Dornstetten and came to the Oberamt in 1807/1808 and in 1938 to the old district of Freudenstadt. On July 1, 1974, Schopfloch united with Oberiflingen and Unteriflingen to form the new overall community of Schopfloch.

coat of arms

Current municipal coat of arms

Blazon

Under a golden (yellow) shield head, inside a black deer pole, in red a golden (yellow) paw cross with three black dots at the ends of the arms.

interpretation

The black stag pole in gold is taken from the coat of arms of the house and the state of Württemberg , to which the three parts of today's Schopfloch community were subject for a long time (Schopfloch since 1589, Oberiflingen since 1534, Unteriflingen since 1614). The golden Greek cross (cross with bars of the same length, here widened outwards), indicates the early history of Oberiflingen with its church. To the east of the church a burial mound was excavated in 1896 , in which, according to the grave goods, an Alemanni and his wife had been buried in the first half of the 7th century ; among the additions was a so-called gold leaf cross (2.8 cm). Both belonged to the Alemannic nobility according to the type of burial; at least the woman professed her Christian faith. The two buried in the hill or other members of their sex are likely to have been the founders of the Church of St. Michael. Obviously, Oberiflingen was the center of an Alemannic aristocratic rule. In the Middle Ages, red and gold as the colors of the coat of arms were considered a sign of members of the Swabian nobility, in a certain sense the colors of the Swabians.

Award

With a decree of July 4, 1978, the Freudenstadt District Office granted the community of Schopfloch the right to use a community coat of arms and a flag in yellow and red (gold and red).

Coat of arms of the former community of Schopfloch

Blazon

In silver on green ground between two green fir trees a red barn with an open gate.

interpretation

This coat of arms is a "talking coat of arms": Schopf = Scheuer and Loch / Lohe = forest.

The coat of arms of the former village of Oberiflingen

Blazon

In red under a six-pointed golden (yellow) star, a golden (yellow) harrow.

interpretation

The harrow was taken from a stain seal around 1820, the star from the coat of arms of the Lords of Neuneck. The coat of arms colors gold and red were also the colors of the Lords of Neuneck.

Award

With a decree of October 21, 1957, the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of the Interior of the municipality of Oberiflingen confirmed its previous coat of arms by adding a mark and the coat of arms colors.

The coat of arms of the former village of Unteriflingen

Blazon

In blue, a five-leaf, rooted golden (yellow) linden tree.

interpretation

The former local nobility of the Iflingers ran a golden linden tree with a red shield. Since this coat of arms had already been accepted by the municipality of Lackendorf , Rottweil district , a blue shield background was chosen to distinguish it.
