Side valleys of the Murg is a protected landscape area (protected area number 2.37.040) in the Freudenstadt district .

Location and description

Sankenbachtal with Sankenbachsee

The protected area was created by ordinance of the Freudenstadt District Office of November 7, 1985. These are scenic side valleys of the Murg in the area of ​​the municipality of Baiersbronn . With effect from February 16, 1998, the Buhlbachtal and the Rechtmurgtal were transferred to the area protection of the protected landscape area Rot- and Rechtmurg . With effect from July 1, 1999, the Schönmünztal and the Hinteren Langenbach valley were transferred to the protection of the Huzenbacher See, Schönmünz- and Langenbachtal landscape protection areas . The protected area consists of ten sub-areas that are located around Baiersbronn around (starting from the north of Baiersbronn and in a clockwise direction): Füllenbach-Rohrwiesen , Bubwiesenbach , Redder meadow Noll fields , Reichenbächlestal-Simon meadow , Sankenbachtal , Gutellbachtal , Bösellbachtal , Aitersbächletal , Tannenfels- Auereute and Tonbachtal . The reserve belongs to the natural areas of the Black Forest-Randplatten and Grindenschwarzwald and Enzhöhen .

Protection purpose

The main protection purpose is according to the Protected Area Ordinance

  • the preservation of a natural landscape in various side valleys of the Murg, which is still largely characterized by open, contiguous meadow meadows, open spaces characteristic of the landscape with mountain meadows on the slopes of the valley and alder-ash forests as natural woods accompanying the shore;
  • the preservation of a varied recreational landscape in an otherwise almost completely forested part of the northern Black Forest;
  • the preservation and securing of water areas for recreation by the water in connection with the adjacent parts of the landscape.
