The Route nationale 12a (RN 12a) is a 238 km long unpaved national road in Madagascar . It leads from Tolagnaro via Manantenina to Vangaindrano along the east coast of Madagascar. 10 rivers are crossed with small ferries, some of which are hand-operated. It is classified as a Route nationale temporaire (temporary national road) because it is difficult or impossible to pass during the rainy season. Renewal and paving of the road with the help of the EU is planned, but has not yet been implemented.
