Rubiscoline
The Rubiscoline are a group of opioid peptides that result from the digestion of the protein ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate-carboxylase / -oxygenase ( RuBisCo ) of spinach leaves .
Mode of action
The Rubiscoline mimic the effects of opioids , which is why they are psychologically active. They are very similar to the gluten exorphins ( gliadorphins ). Their influence on the mental state is not yet fully clarified, or it is discussed very controversially (see Gfcf nutrition ). The Rubiscoline bind to the δ-opioid receptor and have an analgesic (pain-relieving) effect. They also stimulate memory formation . In 2007, anti- anxiety properties of Rubiscolin-6 were found in animal models .
Types of Rubiscoline
Two types of rubiscolines are known so far.
