Rudolf "Rudi" Felgenheier (born December 20, 1930 in Horchheim am Rhein , † October 20, 2005 in Koblenz-Güls ) was a German motorcycle racer .

Career

He already won the first race that he contested with the driver's license acquired at the end of 1949. It was the 125 cc naturally aspirated engine class at the Nürburgring in 1950 , which at that time was still rated separately from the compressor machines. He achieved further victories in 1950 at the Solitude race at the Solitude in Stuttgart and at a race in Saarbrücken .

After his victory in 1951 on a private 125 cc DKW at the Feldberg race in the Taunus , which was the toughest race track in Germany with around 60 bends per lap, Felgenheier received a works contract with DKW from 1952 . He sensationally won the 1952 German Grand Prix at the Solitude near Stuttgart in the 250cc class with almost a minute's lead over the second in the race, Hein Thorn Prikker on Moto Guzzi . With this victory he reached fifth place in the World Cup. It was the only DKW World Championship victory. In the same year 1952 he won the Sachsenring ahead of Ewald Kluge .

After a serious fall while training for the Tourist Trophy on the Isle of Man in 1953, Rudi Felgenheier had to end his career prematurely. He then ran a mechanical workshop in Lahnstein .

Felgenheier died on October 20, 2005 at the age of 74. He was blind in the last months of his life.
