Rudolf Deng Mayak

Rudolf Deng Majak (born November 1, 1940 in Akwac , Sudan ; † March 6, 2017 in Siegburg , Germany ) was a South Sudanese clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Wau .

Life

Rudolf Deng Majak, baptized on February 20, 1955, received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Rumbek on November 20, 1970 . Mayak was appointed Apostolic Administrator of Wau on April 12, 1992 .

On November 2, 1995 appointed him Pope John Paul II. To the Bishop of Wau. The Apostolic Pro-Nuncio in Sudan, Archbishop Erwin Josef Ender , donated him episcopal ordination on February 11, 1996 ; Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Juba , Paulino Lukudu Loro MCCJ , and his predecessor Joseph Bilal Nyekindi .

He was Chancellor of the Catholic University of South Sudan, founded in 2008 . As President of the Sudanese Bishops' Conference , he took part in the Special Assembly of the Synod of Bishops for Africa in autumn 2009 .
