Paulino Lukudu Loro MCCJ (born August 23, 1940 in Kwerijik , Juba District) is a South Sudanese religious and emeritus Roman Catholic Archbishop of Juba .

Life

Paulino Lukudu Loro joined the order of the Comboni Missionaries and was ordained a priest on April 12, 1970 .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on December 12, 1974 Apostolic Administrator of El Obeid . Pope John Paul II appointed him on March 5, 1979 as the first bishop of El Obeid. The Pope personally donated him episcopal ordination on May 27 of the same year ; Co - consecrators were Duraisamy Simon Lourdusamy , Secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples , and Eduardo Martínez Somalo , substitute for the State Secretariat .

On February 19, 1983, he was appointed Archbishop of Juba. On his 75th birthday in 2015, he submitted his resignation to the Pope, but was asked by the Nuncio to continue the office until the long-vacant bishoprics of the surrounding dioceses of Malakal , Rumbek and Torit have been filled.

Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on December 12, 2019, and appointed Stephen Ameyu Martin Mulla, who was appointed Bishop of Torit in January of the same year, as his successor.
