Rudolf Filipot

Rudolf Peter Filipot (born March 20, 1919 in Villach ; † October 4, 2000 ) was an Austrian mayor and member of the state parliament .

Life

Born the son of a miner , Rudolf Filipot grew up with his uncle and aunt in Matzelsdorf and attended elementary school in Döbriach until April 12, 1933 . He then completed an apprenticeship as a bricklayer at Eder in Seeboden . In 1937 he joined the RADEX mining company on Millstätter Alpe , where he became familiar with the problems of the workforce at an early age. From April 1, 1939 to November 15, 1939 he was called up for the Reich Labor Service in Saak and on March 4, 1940 for military service with the 8.GJR139 "Gen. Oberst Dietl", where he knew the turmoil of war and the value of the peaceful in the front Learned to appreciate understanding. As a head hunter, he is disarmed with numerous awards (Lapland shield, Iron Cross 1st class).

After returning home from the war on August 25, 1945, he worked as a bricklayer in Klagenfurt for a year . From 1947 he was again employed in magnesite mining on the Millstätteralpe and later in the magnesite works in Radenthein . His knowledge of the concerns of working people appointed him to the works council as early as 1947 , where he was elected chairman of the workers' works council and the central works council in 1953 . As such, he was appointed to the post of member of the supervisory board of the Austrian-American Magnesit AG . For many years he worked as a member and deputy chairman of the state management of the metalworkers' union, from 1958 to 1966 as a member and deputy chairman of the state executive of the Austrian Federation of Trade Unions and from 1953 to 1966 as a member of the Carinthian Chamber of Labor.

Filipot joined the municipal council of the market town of Radenthein in 1950 and, with his election as mayor in 1958, established the rise of this place, of which he remained head for almost twenty years. The local political skill called the mayor of the then largest Carinthian industrial town in 1956 in the Carinthian state parliament . After an accident in 1997, Filipot was dependent on a wheelchair.
