Rudolf Friedrich (born June 2, 1936 in Neudek near Bölten (Bělotín) , Czechoslovakia ) is a German politician ( CDU ).

education and profession

Rudolf Friedrich was born the son of a master tailor in Neudek, a small farming village in the Sudeten German Kuhländchen ; he grew up in Kunewald (now: Kunín ). The expulsion brought his family to the Oberlahnkreis, where he lived with his parents and his two brothers in Aumenau until 1951.

The job of railroad worker took him to the Main metropolis. He has been from Frankfurt since 1955. He was a member of the Hessen parliament for three decades.

Rudolf Friedrich is Catholic, married to Mrs. Erika, geb. Ortmann, and has two grown children and five grandchildren.

politics

Rudolf Friedrich has been a member of the CDU since 1959. From 1975 to 1999 Rudi Friedrich headed the CDU district association in Nordend.

Friedrich was state chairman of the CDU association “Union of Expellees” for 27 years and was then appointed honorary chairman.

Since 1970 he has been a city councilor in Frankfurt am Main .

Rudolf Friedrich was a member of the Hessian state parliament from December 1, 1974 to April 4, 2003 and a member of the board of the CDU parliamentary group. He was elected in 1987 , 1991 and 1995 in the constituency of Frankfurt am Main V and otherwise on the CDU state list.

Friedrich became the spokesman for transport policy, but his special efforts in his political functions were and still are aimed at expellees, refugees and repatriates. In parliament he was therefore from April 1983 to April 1999 chairman of the subcommittee on displaced persons , repatriates, refugees and reparations.

From 1999 to 2009 Friedrich was the state representative of the Hessian state government for expellees and repatriates. As one of five representatives of the federal states, he was a member of the advisory board for late repatriate issues formed at the Federal Ministry of the Interior.

Other offices

Friedrich was long-time state chairman and later honorary chairman of the Ackermann community , deputy BdV state chairman and vice-president of the Federal Assembly of the Sudeten German Landsmannschaft .

Honors

Rudolf Friedrich received the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class in 2002 and the Wenzel Jaksch Medal in 2001. His home community also honored him with the Kuhländers Medal of Honor. In 2006, the Pope awarded Rudolf Friedrich the papal New Year's Eve . Auxiliary Bishop Pieschl presented the certificate and Kindermann, the diocesan chaplain, presented the monastic insignia. The Sudeten German Landsmannschaft awarded Friedrich in 2008 with its second highest award, the "Letter of Honor of the Sudeten German Landsmannschaft" in the presence of the Hessian Prime Minister Roland Koch. In 2008 he was honored with the Wilhelm Leuschner Medal , the highest award in the State of Hesse.
