Rudolf Gottlieb Freiherr von Dyherrn (also: Dyhern , Dyhrn , * 1745 in Silesia, † August 8, 1806 in Landsberg an der Warthe ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

Dyherrn came on June 3, 1761 as a Junker in the Dragoon Regiment "von Czettritz" . During the Seven Years' War he fought in the Battle of Reichenbach . On May 29, 1765 he was promoted to Second Lieutenant and on December 11, 1778 to Prime Lieutenant. In the War of the Bavarian Succession in 1778/79 he fought in the battle near Jung-Buchau.

After the war, Dyherrn became staff captain on March 29, 1780 . In the First Coalition War he fought in the cannonade of Valmy , in the battle of Kaiserslautern and in the battles near Stromberg, Limbach, Hornbach, Nutzweiler, Zweibrücken, Weißenburg and Fröschweiler. During that time he was promoted to major on January 5, 1793 with a patent dated January 6, 1793 , and was appointed squadron chief. On October 3, 1794 he received the order Pour le Mérite for Kaiserslautern .

On October 19, 1800 he was appointed commander of the regiment. On May 25, 1802 he rose to lieutenant colonel and on May 27, 1804 to colonel . But already on October 1, 1805 he received his resignation with the character of major general and a pension of 800 thalers. He died unmarried on August 8, 1806 in Landsberg an der Warthe.

In the assessment from the year 1804 it says: With seriousness and with a moral character he performs his service as a commander dutifully. but is sickly, has damage in the chest and is still a little weak because of a heated nerve fever .
