Life

Hruschka attended the kk teacher training institute in Budweis , where he passed the high school diploma in 1900 and the teaching qualification test in 1902, and then worked as a teacher in Eggern and from 1904 to 1918 in Jamnitz . From 1914 he took part in the First World War as an Imperial and Royal Reserve Officer (most recently Oberleutnant d. R.) . After the school in Jamnitz was closed by the Czechs, Hruschka became a teacher in Alt Hart in 1919 , where as early as 1920 he introduced freedom from learning materials for all pupils regardless of need. From 1932 to 1935 he was a member of the qualification committee for teachers in elementary and community schools in the Iglau school district . As a senior teacher, he retired in 1935. During the German occupation of the Sudetenland , he served as registrar in Piesling from 1939 to 1945 and from 1941 as district administrator of the registry office in the Waidhofen an der Thaya district .

Hruschka was particularly important as a local researcher and historian. The historian Karl Lechner described him as the "researcher of the history of Southwest Moravia since the end of the Middle Ages." He wrote the local stories of Alt Hart, Holleschitz, Wenzelsdorf and Zoppanz, a family and house history of Alt Hart as well as over 300 historical, homeland and folkloric essays that have appeared in various specialist journals in Czechoslovakia and Austria. In 1931 he was appointed a corresponding member of the German History Association in Brno .

As a displaced person, Hruschka came to Ditzingen after the Second World War, where he was in charge of the community library from 1946 to 1956. He continued to work as a writer with articles for the South Moravian Yearbook , the Moravian-Silesian Homeland and other expellee organs. He died in November 1961 in Ditzingen and found his final resting place in the local cemetery.
