Rudolf Inzinger

Rudolf Inzinger (born April 5, 1907 in Vienna ; † August 26, 1980 ) was an Austrian mathematician .

Life

Inzinger studied mathematics and descriptive geometry at the University and the Technical University of Vienna . In 1933 he did his doctorate under Erwin Kruppa on Die Liesche Illustration , in 1936 he qualified as a professor . After Austria was annexed to the German Reich , Rudolf Inzinger had to leave the Technical University of Vienna.

After his return from captivity, Inzinger started working again at the Technical University of Vienna in 1945, where he was appointed associate professor in 1946 and full professor of mathematics a year later. Inzinger was Dean from 1950 to 1952 and Rector from 1967 to 1968. In 1977 Rudolf Inzinger retired .

In 1947 he re-founded the Austrian Mathematical Society and was its chairman until 1948.

Inzinger mainly dealt with differential geometry , the theory of convex areas and mathematical problems in determining the location of sound sources.
