Rudolf Schütz (born February 1, 1939 in Vienna ) was military vicar general of the Austrian military ordinariate from 1994 to 2004 .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1958, Schütz studied theology at the University of Vienna . He received on June 29 in 1964 by Cardinal Franz König , the ordination and celebrated first Mass on July 5, 1964 in the parish church of St. Paul in Vienna - Döbling . Then he worked in his chaplaincy in Mannersdorf am Leithagebirge . He became military chaplain of the reserve in 1968 in Götzendorf an der Leitha and from 1970 to 1985 was a military pastor at the Lower Austria military command.

Military Bishop Christian Werner appointed him Vicar General of the Austrian Military Ordinary on April 1, 1994, and three months later Federal President Thomas Klestil appointed him Military Vicar General . In 2004, Franz Fahrner succeeded him in office.

Since 2006 he has been prior for the Vienna Commandery of the Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem .
